1.1       root        1: This directory contains software written at UCB to drive Versatec
                      2: and Benson-Varian electrostatic plotters.
                      3: The versatec uses 36 inch wide roll paper; the varian uses 11 x 11 inch
                      4: fanfold paper.
                      5: Some of the software is proprietary and has not been included,
                      6: but can be obtained from Versatec.
                      7: 
                      8: We have the versatec running as a plotter, a printer (four pages
                      9: across using the hardware characters), and a typesetter (also
                     10: running four pages across).
                     11: The varian does all these things too, but only one page across.
                     12: 
                     13: The varian is known as /dev/va0.  The versatec is /dev/vp0.
                     14: Much of the software is shared, and can be used for either device.
                     15: Only the daemons are separate (vad and vpd).  But even they are produced
                     16: from the same source file (vpd.c).

This archive runs on limited infrastructure. Preserving old code on modern bandwidth. Automated agents are requested to crawl responsibly.
