     The procedure eeeessssccccaaaappppeeee((((ssss)))) produces a string in which Icon
     quoted literal escape conventions in ssss are replaced by the
     corresponding characters.

LLLLIIIIMMMMIIIITTTTAAAATTTTIIIIOOOONNNNSSSS
     Octal and hexadecimal literal specifications cannot be
     abbreviated by omitting leading zeros.
