[ READ-ME - Mon Jul 9 06:47:07 1990 - OSI Directory Tools - /cjr ]

This UNIX directory contains some shell scripts to help manage Application
Entity Information stored in the QUIPU OSI directory.

The OSI directory is loaded from a file containing line of the form
	hostname	application	address

For example:
	bells default Int-X25(80)=23421920030013
or
	hubris iso ftam	Internet=128.16.8.3

If you have used previous releases of ISODE you will be familiar with the
isoentities file. There is a script 'ent2aei' which will read
isoentities format, and produce a file in the above style e.g.,

	ent2aei < entities.local > aei-info

The script 'aei2dsa' will take a file of the above form, and produce
a dish shell script that will modify the OSI directory to match the file.
Before the script is run, you should connect to the DSA as the manager,
using the dish 'bind' command e.g.,

	bind -u "<DN of dsa manager>" -simple

The data will be added below the part of the DIT your current dish process
is at. If this is not the right place (generally, the place defined by
'local_DIT' in the system wide 'dsaptailor' file is the "right place")
you should use the dish 'moveto' command e.g.,

moveto "<DN of entry to add entries below>"

Now run the script (assuming the local info is in a file 'aei-info'):

	aei2dsa < aei-info | sh

If an entry in the 'aei-info' file contains an entry with 'default' as
the supported applications, details of the following services are added:

	iso ftam
	iso vt
	iso cmip
	isode miscellany
	isode shell
	isode idist

The script 'dsa2aei' will search the local database and generate an aei-info
type file. This can be use to find 'extra' entries that should be removed
from the OSI directory. Note: 'default' cases will be expanded.
