                      3:  The `Search' function will look for a given entry
                      4:  associated  with the  real  world  object that 
                      5:  matches the value shown in the Search For 
                      6:  dialogue box.  This object must be of the type 
                      7:  shown in the `Type' field, and the given value 
                      8:  must describe some aspect of this target object.
                      9: 
                     10:  Values are entered by pointing the mouse at 
                     11:  the dialogue box next to the `Search' button 
                     12:  and typing in a string.

                     14:  The contents of the `Type' field can be changed 
                     15:  by clicking on the `Type' button and then 
                     16:  selecting the desired type from the resulting 
                     17:  pop-up menu.  The contents of the `Type' will 
                     18:  not normally have to be set as `Xd' should 
                     19:  automatically set this to what seems the most 
                     20:  obvious and sensible type for the current 
                     21:  directory position. Currently defined types are
                     22:  `Person',  `Place',  `Organization'  and 
                     23:  `Department'.

                     25:  As an example, suppose you wish to search for
                     26:  the entry of `Polonius Plum', a person, of 
                     27:  Brunel University, then a possible search 
                     28:  strategy would be as follows:

                     30:    i) Move to a suitable directory position, in
                     31:       this case `Brunel University'.
                     32: 
                     33:   ii) Make sure that the correct `Type' has been 
                     34:       selected. For this example the correct type
                     35:       would be `Person'.

                     37:  iii) Enter a suitable value, this might simply be
                     38:       `Polo' or `Plum', then click on `Search' or
                     39:       simply press <Return> whilst in the Search
