1.1       root        1:        The files in this directory are for use under the X window system to 
                      2:        preview files destined for printing on an IMAGEN laser printer. In
                      3:        addition there are several utilities to manage spool files, however
                      4:        the default settings of the site.h  and Makefile do not use spooling.
                      5: 
                      6:    NB: What folllows is the only way to do it right now with the make file 
                      7:        I have included.
                      8: 
                      9: HOW TO INSTALL:
                     10: 1) Read the site.h and Makefile and edit them to make any needed local changes.
                     11: 
                     12:    If your troff is targeted for an IMAGEN 8/300 the IMAGEN300 flag in site.h
                     13:    should be turned on.
                     14: 
                     15: 2) Just:
                     16:                make install-ns
                     17:        - This will make the previewer `impv' and install it in /usr/local
                     18:                make install-man
                     19:        - This will put ximpv.1 in  the /usr/man/man1 directory.
                     20:          This completes the installation.
                     21: 
                     22: 3) Try:
                     23:                make ximpv-test
                     24:        - This should cause ximpv to give you a preview of the file
                     25:          test.man.data in this directory.  The key pad and controls
                     26:          for ximpv should work as described in the man page.

                     28:                ximpv test.eqn.data 
                     29:        - This should cause ximpv to show you a page of equations.

                     32: Compiler Flags:
                     33:        -the XWIND flag in the #ifdef's of this directory is for 
                     34:        work with a VAX station. If the XWIND flag is not used this 
                     35:        software is designed to work on an Sun workstation.
                     36:        -the COLOR flag is needed to include the color slide option. 
                     37:        It is incompatible with the XWIND (even the color versions).
                     38:        Leaving it out does nothing to improve speed but decreases the
                     39:        code size by a small amount. It is not intended for the XWIND.
                     40:        -the NOSPOOL flag is for use if the spooling directories described
                     41:         above are not in use.  You may wish to rcp a file that is the product
                     42:         of dimp to the preview workstation and then preview it directly.
                     43:        -the IMAGEN300 flag is for used with files aimed at the imagen300 
                     44:         printer.
