hosts.equiv \- equivalent host table
.SH DESCRIPTION
The
.I /etc/hosts.equiv
is a list specifying hosts which are 
.I equivalent
to the current host. From these hosts, users do not 
supply login passwords when remotely logging into the sytem via
.I rlogin(1C).
Remote users can also execute commands via 
.I rsh(1C)
at this host without logging into the host first
or perform file transfers
via
.I rcp(1C).

The format of the entry lines is:


\ \ \ \ remote-host remote-user

or

\ \ \ \ remote-host

The second format allows wildcard matching of
.I remote-user.
.I Remote-host 
must be the host names as defined in
.I /etc/hosts.

Each user can also customize a list of equivalent hosts by creating the file
.I ".rhosts"
in his or her home directory. The entry format is the same as that 
.I /etc/hosts.equiv
