1.1       root        1: This directory, /usr/lib/ms, contains various macro files used
                      2: by the -ms package, along with various scripts that are useful
                      3: for text formatting.  These scripts are not supported commands--
                      4: they are examples that may assist you with document preparation.
                      5: These scripts are described below:

                      9: This program takes -ms footnotes (text placed between .FS and .FE
                     10: macros) and moves them to the end of your output.  It should be
                     11: used with numbered footnotes, which are entered like this:

                     19: When you want to produce numbered endnotes instead of footnotes,
                     20: you can run the program as follows:

                     22:        % /usr/lib/ms/endnote filename(s) | nroff -ms
                     23: 
                     24: Other nroff options, such as -T to specify terminal type, may
                     25: also be given.  If you're using refer, tbl, or eqn, they should
                     26: follow /usr/lib/ms/endnote, in the proper order.  The endnote
                     27: program creates the file "endnotes" in the working directory;
                     28: the file is removed afterward endnote finishes.  If this file
                     29: already exists, the program exits with an error message.

                     31: After a while you may find it more convenient to copy this script
                     32: to your own directory, rather than saying /usr/lib/ms/endnote
                     33: every time you want to run it.  To do this, type:

                     35:        % cp /usr/lib/ms/endnote endnote
                     36:        % chmod +x endnote

                     38: The first command will copy it into your working directory, and
                     39: the second will make it executable.

                     43: This program takes accent marks in the old -ms format (where they
                     44: come before the accented letter) and changes them into the new .AM
                     45: format (where the come after the accented letter).

                     50: The swapacc program is best run from inside the editor:

                     54: The first to the last lines of the editor buffer will be sent to
                     55: the shell, which will run /usr/lib/ms/swapacc, and then return
                     56: all lines to where they were before.
