8: cc2 is the optimizer/object generator phase of COHERENT. It op-
9: timizes the code generated by cc1, and writes the object code.
10: COHERENT uses multiple optimization algorithms. One optimizes
11: jump sequences: it eliminates common code, optimizes span-depen-
12: dent jumps, and removes jumps to jumps. The other function scans
13: the generated code repeatedly to eliminate unnecessary instruc-
14: tions.
