                     12: The current  working directory is  the directory from  which file
                     13: name searches  commence when a pathname does  not begin with `/'.
                     14: getwd returns  the name of the current  working directory.  It is
                     15: useful  for processes  that need to  generate full  pathnames for
                     16: files, such as spoolers and daemons.

                     18: If the  invoker does not have permission to  search all levels of
                     19: directory hierarchy  above the current directory,  getwd will not
                     20: be able to obtain the directory name.
