1.1       root        1: There are 4 directories containing configuration info and
                      2: makefiles for making UPAS for different versions of UNIX:

                      4: v9:    for ninth edition
                      5: 4bsd:  for Berkeley 4.[23] with MX entries
                      6: sun4bsd:for Sun 4.2 without MX entries
                      7: s5:    for system 5 (3B2)
                      8: s5.3k: for system 5 on our Cray XMP
                      9: 
                     10: To make UPAS for your system:
                     11: 1) cd to the directory for your flavor of UNIX.
                     12: 2) type 'make' to compile UPAS.
                     13: 3) become root.
                     14: 4) type 'make install' to install UPAS.
                     15: 5) examine config/*/rewrite and config/*/route.  Modify a copy of each
                     16:    to make sense for your system and copy it to /usr/lib/upas.
                     17: 
                     18: You now should have a working mail system.  If not 'run about, scream and shout'.
                     19: 
                     20: To change the directory where things are kept, modify the following makefile
                     21: variables and go back to step 1.

                     23:        MAIL            - where the mail files reside
                     24:        USERALIAS       - where user aliases reside
                     25:        SYSALIAS        - where system aliases reside
