.I Ttyname
returns a pointer to the null-terminated path name
of the terminal device associated with file descriptor

returns 1 if

is associated with a terminal device,
0 otherwise.

.I Nametty
arranges that future opens of
.I file
will refer to
the stream opened on
.IR fildes .
.I File
must exist before
.I nametty
is called.
The arrangement is terminated
when the other end of the stream
is closed or hung up.

The return value of

points to static data
whose content is overwritten by each call.

leads ultimately to a terminal on the remote machine.
Similarly, when serving
