.TH SU 8 .CT 1 sa_nonmortals secur .SH NAME su, setlog \- substitute userid temporarily, become super-user .SH SYNOPSIS .B /etc/su [ .I user ] .PP .B /etc/setlog .I logname .I command ... .SH DESCRIPTION .I Su changes the userid to that of .I user (root by default) with groupid and login shell determined from the password file. If the current userid is not the super-user, the password for the new user is demanded. The userid stays in force until the new shell exits. .PP The current directory and environment are unchanged unless the new userid is super-user, in which case the environment variables .B PS1 and .BR PATH , if present, are set to standard values (white space and .BR /bin:/usr/bin:/etc ). .PP .I Setlog executes the specified .I command with login name .IR logname .
