.TH SETLIMITS 3 SHARE
.SH NAME
setlimits \- set limits structure
.SH SYNOPSIS
.B #include <sys/types.h>
.br
.B #include <sys/lnode.h>
.P
.B setlimits(limits)
.br
.B struct lnode *limits;
.SH DESCRIPTION
This library routine sets an in\-core limits structure.
If necessary, it also sets any group limits structures.
.I Limits
points to an
.IR lnode .
.PP
The
.I lnode
pointed to by the argument
.I limits
is first examined to see if its scheduling group is
.IR root .
If not,
the
.I lnode
for the group is obtained (via
.IR getshares (3))
and passed to a recursive call to
.IR setlimits .
Finally the original
.I lnode
is set with the
.SM L_SETLIM
call to the
.IR limits (2)
system call.
.PP
If the details for any group encountered cannot be found in the
.I limits
data-base, then the group is set to
.IR root .
.PP
Note that the
.I /etc/shares
file may be left open by this routine.
.SH DIAGNOSTICS
As for the
.IR limits (2)
system call.
.P
Any error cause a -1 to be returned.
