There are two routines implemented: ipcpath and ipcopen. Both appear to work pretty much the same as the V10 versions. ipcpath converts a destination with default network and service name to a string useable by ipcopen. Ipcopen processes destinations with the following format: dialer!destination The following networks are supported: dk - connect through datakit dkdial(2) call. Host address must be a valid datakit string. tcp - connect through a socket. Host address is obtained by gethostbyname. Format of destination is host!service. If the service name is the form tcp.nn or nn, call service nn. If it is an alphabetic, obtain the port number through getservbyname. mx - same as tcp, except ask the resolver for MX records and try those addresses. If no MX records work, try the A address of the host. proxy - connect to the Internet through the gateway proxy service whose address is given in the ipcopen.c source. The connection may be through datakit or tcp. (others) some synonyms for various proxy destinations. All the code is contained in a directory named `ipc'. The command make init net1 net2 ... lib will install code to call the networks requested from the network names given above. Uninstalled networks will call a stub that aborts if the network is tried.
