1. this stuff is experimental, for 1k and 4k file systems
2. make sure boot is no more than 10 blocks!!!!
3. this version of boot will only boot from ra's and up's
do the dev tables in boot.c and conf.c have to agree?
what is the connection with /usr/sys/dev/conf.c?
